@Sinthiya Nath yes it is alpona. Not for Laxmi Puja though, this was for a grihapravesh Puja.

@Jyotsana Khanna Biyani yes very similar to rangoli. But alpona is made from a watery concoction of rice flour & water.

@Parul yes kolam is very similar to Bengali alpona. The major difference is that in kolam we use dry rice flour & in alpona we make a mixture of rice flour & water.
