HYPOTHYROIDISM....what should be taken & what shouldn't be ???

These improve thyroid function... * zinc found in nuts, whole grains & green leafy vegetables signals the thyroid gland to release T3 & T4 hormones. * selenium, is an antioxidant, which protects the thyroid gland from damage caused by free radicals. Brazil nuts, sardines, eggs and legumes are few excellent sources. * iodine is a mineral required for making thyroid hormones. Some iodine rich foods are seaweed, fish, dairy & eggs. While these slow thyroid function : Goitrogens are compounds that interfere with the normal functioning of the thyroid gland. Soy products, peanuts, vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, turnip, radish, fruits like peach and plum are packed with this compound, so, best used in moderation! Highly processed & fried foods contain unsaturated fat, which also make the symptoms of hypothyroidism worse. Taking dietary fiber or any beverage or food item immediately after thyroid medication interferes with its working. A 45 minutes gap is thus recommended !
