Foods to avoid : * iodized salt - use rock salt instead * Milk & dairy products including ice cream, cheese, yogurt, butter. Curd in moderation is suggested( for its gut friendly bacteria) * iodine rich seafood like sushi, shellfish, kelp or seaweed *Egg yolks * Soy & its products for those undergoing radioactive iodine therapy( though soy does not contain iodine, high levels may interfere with the treatment) * restaurant foods since there is no accurate way to determine which restaurants use iodized salt. * Ashwagandha, an ayurvedic herb is known to stimulate thyroid function. So, best avoided Foods to include : * selenium plays an important role in maintaining thyroid function ...brazilnuts, sunflower seeds, raisins are some sources. * cruciferous vegetables should be included in the diet. * haldi powder - anti-inflammatory * omega 3 & vitamin D help tackle symptoms of hyperthyroidism - salmon, eggs, walnuts, mushroom, ghee * protein rich foods - to avoid muscle loss
