Physical activity does not have to be vigorous or done for long periods in order to improve your health. Walking for me is the most therapeutic form of physical activity! It is low impact, requires minimal equipment, can be done at any time of day and can be performed at your own pace. Some of the benefits include: -improvement in cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) health. - reduced risk of heart disease and stroke. - improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes. - stronger bones and improved balance. - increased muscle strength and ends. - stress management. - improved gut health. For the longest time I’ve struggled with being consistent with walking. One thing that really works is setting smaller goals first, checking them everyday for 1-2 weeks and then gradually increasing the steps.
