The first crop of juicy GUAVAS from my garden !! šŸ˜‹ The guava FRUIT is a source ofĀ vitamin C, fiber, and phytonutrients such as carotenoids, polyphenols, which function as natural antioxidants in the body.

It is a low glycemic index fruit which does not spike the blood sugar levels. It is therefore a good choice for diabetics. It's high fibre content helps to regulate metabolism & improves digestion.Ā  It helps maintain a healthy gut flora too. Guava contains a large amount of potassium and antioxidants, which have a good effect in reducing blood pressure. Early research shows that taking guava LEAF extract may reduce pain and stiffness by a small amount in people with knee pain. However, it is important to also know that guava leaf extract might cause temporary nausea or stomach pain in some people. So, include under the supervision of an expert ! Can we eat guava seeds ? Yes, the seeds are as nutritious as the pulp of the fruit. So, they can be chewed well & consumed. However,Ā  guava seeds areĀ hard & not so easy to digest. So, those with poor digestion or those who have difficulty in chewing, should avoid them .

We have a Guava tree in our garden and have one daily with a pinch of salt on top. Good for digestion.
