1/2 cup aliv( watercress/ garden cress/ halim) seeds
1.5 to 2 cups fresh shredded coconut
1 cup jaggery
1/4 tsp cardamom (green elaichi) powder
1/4 tsp nutmeg (jaiphal) powder
2 tbsp ghee
1 cup coconut water
Soak aliv seeds in coconut water.
Take a pan over medium heat. Once the pan is hot add ghee into it.
Add shredded coconut to the melted, hot ghee
Fry the coconut for 2-3 minutes, over medium-low heat.
Add jaggery & stir everything together over low heat until jaggery is melted.
Add the soaked aliv seeds
Gently mix everything together and continue to cook them over low heat.
In a couple of minutes, the mixture will come together and start to separate from the pan.
Turn off the heat and add cardamom and nutmeg powder.
Gently mix everything together and roll them into small balls.
Aliv seeds ladoo are ready.
NOTE - You can soak aliv seeds in normal water as well. Store them in a dry, air-tight container. They stay good for 4-5 days or you can store them for 10-12 days in a refrigerator.
